THE CHARACTER
FULL NAME: Pansy Anne Parkinson
BIRTHDAY: August 30th. Age 17.
PLACE OF BIRTH: Manchester, England.
SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Straight.
BLOOD STATUS: Pureblood
THOUGHTS ON BLOOD PURITY/MUGGLES: Purity of blood is the true measure of a witch or wizard. Though she doesn't hate Muggles or Muggleborns, Pansy does hate people that do not know their place. Muggleborns are less than. Those who realizes that get grudging acceptance from her.

HOUSE AND YEAR: Slytherin. 6th
WAND: Willow. 10 inches long. Unicorn Hair Core. Wielded with her left hand.
BOGGART: Her mother hitting and belittling her.
PATRONUS: Fox. Picturing the day she graduates from Hogwarts and never needing to return to her parent's home again.
CLASSES: Potions, Charms, Transfiguration, Dark Arts, Arithmancy, Ancient Runes.
POSITION: Prefect until 5th year. The position was taken away from her for..."conduct unbecoming".

PERSONALITY: Pansy is aloof and snobby, cunning and smart as a whip. She keeps her distance and lets those who surround her interact with the inferior masses. Though she is not exceptionally pretty or charismatic, the entirety of her affect is one that many find enticing and alluring, explaining her esteem and repute.

Entitled and spoiled by her father, Pansy feels that things should be given to her due to her family's esteem, her blood status, her family's wealth, etcetera, etcetera. Because of this, though she is smart, Pansy doesn't work very hard when given assignments she doesn't find interesting and has a spotty record at Hogwarts regarding academics.

Pansy does her best to portray manners and proper behavior. However, beneath that, Pansy is cruel with a nasty temperament. She can easily rub people the wrong way at the best of times and is equally good at making enemies and currying favor with allies and friends.

Despite this, Pansy is fiercely loyal and even caring towards those few she considers worthy enough to be her friends. She defends them and will even share a few secrets here and there. She can even be trusted, for the most part, to keep secrets her friends and allies share with her.

However, make no mistake, Pansy is ultimately out for herself and at the end of the day she will do what she needs to do to get ahead and see that she is in the best position she can be. How much hesitancy she has in betraying someone is simply a matter of how much she likes them but she likes no one better than herself.

Her mother calls her a "smart mouth". Insults flow quickly and freely. She is quick to anger and quick to take insult. Once she is angry with you, it will take a miracle for her to forgive and even then she will never forget. When her wit and insults fail her, Pansy will readily use her wide array of hexes.

She is stubborn and given to extremes in emotion. When she is happy, she is very happy. When she is angry, she is very, very angry. What this means to people runs the gambit from seeing her as "zealous" to "impetuous" to "bratty".

Not that she cares what people think; at least that's what she shows.

STRENGTHS: Cunning, hexes, making people like her, making people hate her, sensing weakness, dueling, strong sense of self preservation.
WEAKNESSES: Untested in truly difficult situations, rude, egotistical, cruel, bigoted, selfish.
LIKES: Vodka martinis very dirty, Italy, fashion, authority, looking good, libraries, fine art, money, status, her gaggle of Slytherin girls, watching Quidditch.
DISLIKES: Disobedience, disappointing her parents or teachers, sucking up, firewhiskey, rivals, feeling jealous, feeling insecure, losing, classless girls, classless boys, sloppiness, prudishness behind closed doors, most of the food at Hogwarts, general idiocy, boys who don't know how to treat a lady, people who try and discipline her, traitors, muggles, muggle technology.
PERSONAL GOALS: Pansy wants to find a job where she can put her cunning, social skills and love of verbal sparring to great use. Loving Quidditch, as a fan as much as she does, she has considered a job in public relations or player relations for a Quidditch team; the more popular and esteemed the squad the better!

PARENTS: Gerard Parkinson - Wizengamot Attorney - 49 - A man of fanatical devotion to the ideals of Pureblood superiority, he is also a man of very loose morals. He ultimately believes in only one thing; himself. There are other things of importance, of course, but they all take a backseat to his own survival and success including his wife and daughter. He is a respected attorney but has been known to be "streaky" in his prosecutions. He almost always manages to get convictions for muggleborns, halflboods and blood traitors. However, pureblood elitists and others usually slip through his grasp.

Juliette Parkinson - Unspeakable - 50 - Juliette never wished a husband or children. She wanted esteem and power and a career of her own. However, she saw no way to actually do that. Without ever letting on that it wasn't her first choice, she courted a man approved of by her family and bore him one child before claiming that she was unable to have another for him.

Once that was done, she withdrew into her work and is an esteemed and even feared Unspeakable.
THEIR RELATIONSHIP: Pansy despises bother her parents. She resents the neglect shown to her by her father. She hates her mother for the abuse she has rained down on her. She can not wait to escape them and never speak to them again. Though, in her darker moments, Pansy does have a wish for something very ill to befall her mother.
SIBLINGS: None.
FAMILY DYNAMICS: The Parkinson family is very distant. They al have their own lives. Even when they are home together, a rare case, they often sit in silence at dinner before retreating to their own rooms or studies.


PERSONAL HISTORY: Pansy Anne Parkinson was born to Gerard and Juliette after they had been married for over ten years. The pregnancy was very hard on Juliette. She despised every second of it. Her doctors, with a few days of Pansy being born, announced to Gerard that his wife wouldn't be bearing him any more children. Though disappointed, especially since he didn't have a boy, but he threw himself into his work and moved on.

Pansy was used to very little attention from her parents from her earliest memories. Raised by an elderly witch she called Nan, Pansy tried to go to her mother but was only meant with cruelty. She would disturb her mother while she was trying to work and would be spanked, then slapped when she was older. She was belittled for the littlest things and punished harshly for behavior normal to children.

Her neglectful father was oblivious to this even as Pansy's mother began to search her out to "punish" her when she was feeling frustrated. Meanwhile, her father spoiled here and made sure Pansy wanted for nothing material.

Over the years, Pansy has learned how to bat her eyelashes at her father and get everything she wants from him except love and affection. She has learned how to avoid her mother and to minimize the abuse from her mother that slowly transitioned from mostly to physical to mostly verbal over the years.

Hogwarts became a sanctuary for Pansy and she could barely contain herself as she boarded the Hogwarts Express for the first time. However, she did comport herself like a proper young lady; she is a Parkinson, after all.

She quickly found her place at the front of the pack of the ickle first year girls. Those girls have stayed with her through the years; with varying degrees of loyalty. By the time she became a Prefect, she had cemented her status as the Slytherin Queen Bee and has kept that status even with a few bumps in the road since then.

Early on, Pansy met a flaxen haired boy that would be a large part of her school life through until her sixth year. She had a crush on Draco Malfoy immediately. Childish, at first, Pansy doted on him like no other. She thought this was the only way to show affection and show she thought well of him.

Draco, it seemed, used to being doted on quickly grew accustomed to this and began to expect it. Once things became romantic at the Yule Ball, Pansy couldn't have been happier. Draco was the prefect boy for her...or so she thought.

A perfect match on paper, her parents were already planning her marriage to Draco her fifth year. Despite a bit of a scandal, that few know the details of, they seemed undeterred even if Pansy and Draco lost their Prefect positions over the incident.

However, Pansy was unable to ignore Draco continuously taking her for granted. As fifth year neared its end, Pansy was growing quite tired of how she was being treated. When Draco didn't bother to make any effort to stay in touch over the summer, Pansy finally gave up on him. She plans to break up with Draco at the first suitable moment and plans not to look back.

Her goals for her sixth year are all about status and socializing. Pansy knows her career post-Hogwarts is important but thinks she doesn't need to worry about that until her seventh year. She knows Hogwarts will be a vey different experience this year without being at Draco's side. Though she is a little nervous, she would never show it. Instead, Pansy only shows the excitement she feels about the new things on the horizon.

APPEARANCE: Pansy is considered pretty but that often requires great effort on her part that she is more than willing to put in. Her skin is pale and her cheeks are dotted with freckles.

Her hair is black but she charms it so that it is flawlessly obsidian in color. The lines of her bob are straight and give her a severe look.

Pansy's nose is slightly upturned and is small, lending to the nickname given to her by the cretins in Gryffindor "Pugnose Parkinson".

Pansy is very interested in fashion and cares about it a great deal. Though she doesn't care for the Hogwarts uniforms, considering them tremendously boring and unfashionable, Pansy makes sure they are all perfectly tailored and pressed. When not in uniform, she chooses her outfits carefully and only wears the most fashionable and expensive clothes.

I am trying to get excited about this year. I'm looking forward to a lot of things while dreading a few. Some things, it is actually both like breaking up with Draco. On one hand, I can't wait to see his face when I tell him. On the hand, I'm really not sure how to approach things without being at his side.

However, I can't be a coward. I need to break up with him so I will.

What then?

I've been thinking a lot about Severus Snape this summer. I think I might need to find an excuse to talk to him right when I get back.
